El lunes 19 de Noviembre de 2007, entre las 9:30 y las 17:30 hrs, se llevará a cabo la IIª Jornada de Historia de Chile, organizada por docentes y estudiantes de la Carrera de Historia y Geografía de la Universidad Pedro de Valdivia de La Serena, región de Coquimbo.
La actividad cuenta con el respaldo de la Facultad de Educación de esta casa de estudios y contará con la participación de destacados historiadores/as nacionales entre los que destacan Sergio Grez Toso e Igor Goicovic.
Esta actividad se suma a otras que se han desarrollado este año -Jornada Silva Carreño en la UPLA y la XVII Jornada de Historia en la UFRO, sin contar el IIº Encuentro de Historiadores que se llevará a cabo en Iquique el mes de Diciembre-, evidenciando que la Historia posee un sitial importante en el debate y la discusión de las Ciencias Sociales actualmente; además de demostrar una admirable "necesidad" por hablar de historia e historias.
El año 2006 la Jornada de la UPV comenzó de manera timida pero decidida, contando en dicha ocasión con la presencia del profesor de Historia y Magister (c) en Historia de Chile (USACH), Jorge Rivas Medina, quien expuso y conversó con la audicencia acerca de la Prensa Obrera iniciado el siglo XX y su utilización en el aula.
